This is one of my Songs Written To Order, where John The Publisher receives a BRIEF saying what an advert will look like AND/OR a rough video of it, with some ideas about what the song should be like.

This time I think it was a description of the advert along with a rough idea of what they wanted - something quirky, fun and inclusive, about people coming together. I knew the advert was going to be for The Sun when it came in, and felt rather DODGY about doing it. My AGREEMENT with John The Publisher states that none of my songs can be used to advertise Meat Products, but apart from that I left it pretty open, but things like this do worry me a bit.

In the end I decided to have a go, realising a) they'd never use my song anyway (advertising agencies idea of "quirky" is a lot LESS quirky than ME!) b) even if they did I would be TAKING money from them and c) if nothing else I'd get a song out of it.

SO I went ahead and, inevitably, my predictions came true - as has happened SO MANY TIMES they used A Girl Singing A Stripped Down Version Of a Popular Tune, this time "Just Can't Get Enough", as you can hear if you watch the final broadcast version on Youtube.

It was something of a relief, though I do like the song. We NEARLY used it as the final track on Regardez, Ecoutez Et Repetez but THANKFULLY chose the tune that became CALLED Regardez, Ecoutez Et Repetez instead, which fitted much more nicely.
